  Children Are Us Bakery

  Children Are Us Bakery is the first sheltered workshop set up by Children Are Us Foundation in Taipei, which has trained many mentally handicapped children over the past 17 years who have successfully been employed outside. And the first licensed mentally handicapped Pastry with Class C Baking License in Taipei graduated from here.  

  Main businesses: Bread, cake, catered event with western desserts, cake for a baby's completion of its first month of life, and gift.

  With its stores, Children Are Us Foundation offers training opportunities for many mentally handicapped children to learn work skills so that they can become independent and have more opportunities of employment.  

  All the bread for breakfast of Horizon Inn comes from Children Are Us Bakery. We are convinced that making them independent is the best help to them.

  Nuns' Blessing Cakes

  In order to raise the funds for the poor senior and the sustainable operation of the only hospice "Grace Home" in Taitung, the old nuns at their 60s and 70s at Taitung St. Mary's Hospital hope to pass their love via the sale of cakes for charity made with their hometown recipe and skill.  

   The handmade "Nuns' Blessing Cakes" are not only fresh and yummy, but also low in fat and sugar without additives, making them safe and healthy  

  Horizon Inn Breakfast intends to contribute to the nuns and hopes that their customers to enjoy authentic and natural cakes while reacting to the sale for charity.

  The Big Issue Taiwan

  The Big Issue is a London-based magazine, lasting for two decades since its establishment in 1991. Its content includes news, social topics, arts, and culture. It now issues different versions in ten countries including UK, Japan, Australian, and Korea. In particular, it is sold by the homeless. The organization consists of two parts. The first is a limited company model which produces and distributes the magazine to street vendors. The second is a NPO which helps the homeless to address the issue causing their situation and regain their control of life.  

  At Horizon Inn, you can read the magazine. We hope that, through our platform, more people can participate to help the homeless who want to live in their own ways as long as we are willing to offer an opportunity to them.

  Goodness Group for the Groups in Ne

  It is a NPO formed by youngsters based in Hualien who extend their care for Taiwan and initiate various activities for goodness to help people in need in Taiwan.  

  At the beginning, they raised money from sci-tech companies to help remote tribes and villages so that residents at rural communities can have employment opportunities and enhance their production capacity. Besides, people from the south to the north, no matter street vendors or small-scale farmers of fruits and vegetables, benefit from the activities initiated by the group. A small flavor of anyone can help improve their lives.

   "Goodness Group for the Groups in Need" uses direct, energetic, and creative ways to raise money. You can donate to ask them to do some tasks or change your purchase habit or other small daily behavior to help them, or donate items. Those who receive the items will then sell them to bring home the bacon.

  Horizon Inn display the fruit and vegetable cart to response to the activities helping small-scale farmers. If you like the fruits and vegetables, you can buy them at the price displayed. With your help, we can continue to help more people.

  Additionally, in different seasons, small-scale farmers may face the difficulty of overproduction of agricultural products. Such phenomenon reduces prices. Some farmers cover their costs. What's worse is that the agricultural products may not be sold out. Thus, Goodness Group buy their products at a higher price. The fruits and vegetables used for the breakfast of Horizon Inn come from Goodness Group. The Chefs made various dishes creatively according to the products at different seasons so as to enrich the breakfast for customers. The same need contains different meaning. Let's join them to help those in need!

  Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation

  Where there is sunshine, there is love! Where there is need, there is Sunshine! Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation, founded for 32 years, upholds the organization's mission and principle to focusing on providing care and services to those with injury or burn on face. Their services have developed from physical, mental, and employment needs to all-round and professional services, laying a solid base of services.

  Recently, the Foundation has actively promoted the prevention and treatment of various oral lesions (e.g. face tumor), especially cancer patients due to areca-nut so as to reduce the tragedy of individual, family, and society! Thanks to the services of the Foundation, more individual with face injury and their families walk out of darkness towards sunshine. It hopes that the public can embrace those with scars on their faces and smile brightly together with them.  

  Horizon Inn can only make more people participate in donation to help them and allow the Foundation to have funds to treat the patients with face injury or burns. It is difficult to raise money. Through the platform of the restaurant, we hope that they can have one more source to raise funds.
